Louis Dreyfus Holding has a firm grip on commodities trading. The company owns several global businesses, most notably Louis Dreyfus Commodities (LDCommodities), one of the world's largest agricultural commodity traders. LDCommodities  buys, sells, and trades cotton, grains, oilseeds, ethanol, coffee, and sugar, among other things. It also processes citrus, oilseeds, and sugar cane and is one of the world's largest producers of orange juice. Edesia develops and manages alternative investment products for institutional clients. Louis Dreyfus was formed in 1851 when Léopold Louis-Dreyfus sold grain from France in Switzerland. Chairman Margarita Louis-Dreyfus controls the company through a family trust.
